Obituary of Harvey Allen

Harvey Tansley Allen of Bashaw, formerly of Lacombe, passed away on December 24, 2014 at the age of 93. Harvey was born February 11, 1921 in Stettler, AB to Herb and Maud Allen. Harvey took his schooling in Stettler then attended the University of Alberta where he received his MSc in Horticulture. During this time he served in the RCAF and married his loving wife, Olive. They moved to Lacombe where he began his 35 year career as a horticulturist at the Lacombe Research Station retiring in 1982. Harvey enjoyed gardening, golf, curling, bowling, hunting, fishing, lapidary, playing Bridge and his loving family. Harvey is survived by his loving daughters, Elaine Allen (Ken Morrison) of Whiterock, B.C., Cathy (Robert) Knudtson of Camrose, four Grandchildren, and two Great-Grand Daughters. He was predeceased by his wife Olive in 2003, his parents and his only brother Gordon. Harvey will be forever remembered for his beautiful gardens and as a true gentleman. A memorial service was held at 1:00pm Saturday February 21, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel.
