Obituary of Gregory Parsons

Please share a memory of Gregory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. Gregory Albert Parsons was born in Edmonton August 28, 1948. He was the first son for Dr. Ladd and Marjorie Parsons. Within a year they moved to Camrose where Dr. Ladd established Parsons Family Chiropractic. Greg grew up in Camrose and spent many hours as a Wildrose arena rink rat. Shoveling the ice in between games and catching any spare icetime he could. Greg loved hockey in the winters and competitive swimming in the summer. Greg graduated high school in 1966 from Camrose Lutheran College. It was here he patrolled the blueline for the CLC Vikings and met his future wife Patricia Brook. They married in July 1968. Greg and his younger brother Graham spent many hours playing hockey in the front driveway. Greg loved his brother very much and was especially proud the day he was selected in the NHL draft by the Montreal Canadians. Greg in following in his father's footsteps graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1973. Also that same year his son Bradly Laurence was born. Greg and Pat returned to Canada to begin practice with Dr. Ladd. In 1975 his daughter Terri Lee was born. His family was complete! In 1977 tragedy struck and Greg lost his mother in a car accident. He would talk lovingly about the memories of her and the pride she would have had in her grandchildren's accomplishments. She would have been extremely proud of him as well. Among his own interests of hunting, fishing and camping he enjoyed watching his kids compete in hockey, fastball and horseback riding. Greg also loved his community, while maintaining a thriving clinic he volunteered with the Kinsmen, K40's, Alberta Chiropractors Association and friends of STARS. In 2001 Dr. Greg was happy to welcome his son Dr. Brad to the family practice. He was extremely proud to have three generations of Chiropractors in the family. Becoming a grandfather became his greatest accomplishment. In spending time either watching his grandchildren compete in sports or just sitting in his chair with them, the love and pride resonated very strongly with Greg. With Kailyn his oldest granddaughter he got to share a fun working relationship at his office as well as watching her patrol the blue line as he did for various hockey teams. Mr. Chase as he called him was his knowledge sharing buddy. The two exchanged worthless facts that both would brag about knowing. Dylan loved spending time driving around with Grandpa listening to his love of the local wildlife and you could often catch the pair of them sharing an A&W burger outside of the school. Jack and Grandpa spent lots of time at the hockey rink sitting together and keeping the concession in business. Grandpa always enjoyed watching Jack play hockey and would laugh when he took a penalty for maybe being a little too aggressive. Princess Macy has always had a special place in Grandpa's heart and he was always impressed with her awareness of everything family related. She gets her sharp memory from him and he was always impressed with how fast she could skate. Sir Jett was Grandpa's wrestling match. They loved to play fight and Jett would always get the better of him with a little help from Grandpa's kind soul. Gregory Albert Parsons passed away at the U of A hospital January 17th, 2015. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Patricia; children Brad (Jill) Parsons of Camrose, and Terri (Tim) Davies of Camrose; six grandchildren Kailyn Parsons, Chase Parsons, Dylan Davies, Jack Davies, Macy Parsons, and Jett Parsons; brother Graham (Bonnie) Parsons of Sylvan Lake; and Ladd's second wife Helen Parsons.
