Wilfred Walter Soch of Bittern Lake, formerly of Hay Lakes, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the age of 84 years.
Wilfred Soch was born on February 19th, 1930 in Ellerslie, Alberta, the third child of Samuel and Alvina Soch. He attended school in Canard and Hay Lakes. He married Rita Radtke in St. Stevens Lutheran Church in rural Hay Lakes on July 17th, 1952. They had three children, Deborah, Cal and Terry. Wilf had a mixed farming operation and also drove school bus for the County of Camrose for 35 years. He retired to the Village of Bittern Lake in 1999.
Wilf had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs. He had a knack for striking up a conversation with whoever he met. When he was young, he took pleasure in curling, playing and coaching ball. Wilf enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play in multiple sports and he was an avid fan of the Flames, Blue Jays and Stampeders. In Wilf's retirement years, he continued to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed curling, floor curling, and shooting pool including playing a game of pool with his friends prior to suddenly passing away in the early morning of January 28th, 2015 at the age of 84.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Rita; his daughter Deborah and her husband Dennis of Calgary; his son Cal and his wife Lori and their two children, Jordan and Kelsey of Beaumont; his son Terry and his wife Debbie and their two children, Dylan and Darby of Camrose; his sister Flora Knoske of Edmonton; his sister Margaret and her husband Yorry Sibulak of Edmonton; his sister-in-law Adoline Soch of Hay Lakes; and his brother-in-law Gary Radtke of Camrose. He also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from Our Savior Lutheran Church Hay Lakes, Alberta, with Rev. Greg Kjos officiating. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund, or to the charity of one's choice.
