Obituary of Helen Olsen

Helen Olsen was born July 25, 1927 second eldest of nine children to Fred and Hattie Teske of Bruce, Alberta. Helen grew up on the family farm sacrificing 4-6 years of education to help with her siblings. In her teen years she went to work for the Red and White store and help families as a live in helper. She moved to Camrose about 17 or 18 years of age and applied as Live in Helper with the Ernst's. From there she worked for Theo Bailey at their drugstore and lunch counter. In 1948 she married Allen Olsen and lived in Camrose where their oldest son, Doug was born. They began their farming life together by first purchasing the Fenwick farm at Kingman, Alberta where 6 more children were born. Later they purchased the Olsen home place where they farmed till 1975. They then moved to Camrose in 1975 where they built a new home and resided there till Helen moved to Faith House in November, 2010 and later Louise Jensen in Dec, 2014 where she passed away on February 1, 2015. Left to cherish her memory are her children Douglas (Juliette) Olsen, Lorraine (Del) Storvik, Sandy (Doug) Briault, Brian Olsen, Glenda (Alvin) Larocque, Glen (Virginia) Olsen and Carol (Roger) Agrey, 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, brother Ernie (Myrna) Teske, brother-in-law Donald Fraser, and sisters Agnes MacDonald, Hazel Bruce, Emma (Merv) VanSlyke and Judy Baker. Helen was predeceased by her husband Allen, brother Daniel Teske and sisters Gertrude Fraser and Lillian Dorin. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 from Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Garfield Vikse officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
