Obituary of Arthur Adams

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arthur (Art) Adams was born on December 11, 1934 at the Galahad hospital to parents Carl and Sophie Adams. He passed away suddenly at the Daysland Hospital on February 13, 2015. Art was raised on a farm three miles east of Forestburg and a half mile south. When he married Dorothy (Dot) Matier on May 20, 1955, they remained on that farm and were blessed with three children Donna, Gary and Gayle. In the spring of 1960, they moved to a farm by Alliance. While farming and raising a family, Art also started working at the Forestburg Coal Mine in 1967. Art and Dot were then blessed with four more children, the twins Larry also known as (Sam) along with Laurie, Gordon and Darlene. In October of 1967, they moved into the town of Galahad and Art continued to work at the mine. In the fall of 1971 he packed up the family and moved into Forestburg, however town life was not for him, so in 1977 they moved out to the old "Schorak" place so he could get back to his passion "hobby farming". He always had to be busy with something. Art enjoyed raising livestock and tending to the farm. In 1983 Art and Dot moved two and a half miles south of Forestburg and that is where he remained until his passing. When Art retired in 1999 he then had more time for his various hobbies. Art loved gardening, yard work, ice curling, floor curling, playing cards, camping and of course FISHING. Golf however was not his forte. From a young age Art always had a love of horses. He enjoyed breaking horses and loved competing in gymkhana with Doug Matier being his biggest competitor. Art also had a love of music with CFCW always being his station of choice first thing every morning. He had what we describe as a natural talent when it came to musical instruments. He played the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, he even attempted to play the banjo and keyboard. Dad loved jamming with Mom, Auntie Alvina and brothers-in-law Earl and Howie and numerous others. They even had a band "the Arthritics" On behalf of the Adams family we would like to thank you for your support and being with us today to celebrate Art's life. Arthur, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, is survived by his wife Dorothy of Forestburg; children Donna (Blayne) Zimmerman of Vernon, B.C., Gary (Sheila) of Camrose, Gayle Adams (Harvey Megley) of New Norway, Larry (Lyne) of Camrose, Laurie (Lorne) Keeping of Delburne, Gordon (Anita) of Red Deer, and Darlene Hofer of Cochrane; sister Alvina Jackson of Coronation; brothers in-law Earl Jackson, Edwin Kuefler, Bud Matier; and sisters in-law Doreen Kuefler, Mary Adams, Audry Adams, and Shirley Doan; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Arthur was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Edward, and Herman; sister Martha; and brothers in-law Howie Doan and Rudy Kandt. Your generosity of flowers, phone calls and food brought to the house was so appreciated. Arthur was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Edward, and Herman; sister Martha; and brothers in-law Howie Doan and Rudy Kandt. A Celebration of Arthurs life was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday February 18th, 2015 from the Forestburg Community Hall with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
