Olaf Martin Pettersen was born September 2, 1929 in Strome, Alberta to Anna and Andrew Pettersen. He had two brothers, Elmer and Sigurd. The family moved from the farm in Strome to Daysland in 1961. He married Eliza Janey Sicklesteel on February 18, 1978. They moved to Camrose in 2005.
Olaf passed away peacefully the evening of March 3, 2015 in his chair watching his favorite hockey team, the Calgary Flames.
Olaf is survived by his wife Janey; step-son Neal Sicklesteel; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also mourning his loss are his sister-in-law Mary Pettersen; and nieces and nephews Trish, Susan, Brenda, Bev, Rob, Judy, Cheryl, Gary, and Dwayne.
Olaf was predeceased by his parents; both brothers Elmer and Sigurd; sister-in-law Donna; and two nephews Brian and Glen.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Daysland Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Daysland Cemetery Fund, or to the Hospice Society of Camrose and District.
