Chauncey D. Flint from Red Deer, formerly of New Norway, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
He was born in Edmonton, April 28, 1920 to Chauncey and Nellie Flint and grew up working his father's farm which has now been in the family over 80 years. During this time, he celebrated many accomplishments such as graduating from Olds College in 1939, being among the first Albertans to travel to the U.S. for the purpose of studying bovine semen freezing techniques, as well as obtaining his pilot's license and becoming a member of the Flying Farmers. After his retirement from farming, Chauncey continued to his work on the farm helping his son John as needed. An avid reader and student of the stock market, Chauncey also had an interest in animals, gardening and hunting and continued to pursue new interests; taking up golfing in his 70's. In 2001, Chauncey and Christina moved to Red Deer together at which point they began enjoying their winters in the United States.
Left to cherish his memory are his companion Christina Thompson of Red Deer; children John (Vivian) of New Norway, James of Wetaskiwin, Frank of British Columbia, Susan (Doug) Pekrul of Okanagan Centre, B.C., and Virginia Flint of Dried Meat Lake; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Chauncey was predeceased by his sister Mary Ellen Johnson; and his parents Chauncey and Nellie.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
