Clark was born October 24, 1937 youngest son of three children to Elsie & William Schaffert in Sidney Nebraska USA. Clark grew up in the sandhills of Nebraska ranching raising registered horned Hereford cattle. Born into the Nebraska dust bowl in the 30's 'Clarkie' was a tried and true cattlemen from an early age. Raising champion Hereford genetics when he was 17 his show steer Donald Duck won the Grand National AK-SAR-BEN cattle show in Omaha. On February 14th 1957 Clark met his life long soul mate and married Marlyce Ann Aurich. Moving across the Western US following his passion as a rancher, they settled eventually in Western Canada making Alberta their home. Through their 58 years of marriage Clark and Marlyce raised five children and became grandpa and grandma to 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Hay Lakes became their home in 2002 where they built their dream home filled with love and favorite "kitties". Clark passed peacefully Thursday April 23rd surrounded by the love and prayers of his family in Canada and the USA. He will be deeply missed by his wife Marlyce; brother Richard (Erzbeth) Schaffert of Roy, Utah; children Debra Sherlock of Lincoln Nebraska, Kerry Kahl of Paxton Nebraska, Sherry (Doug) Harris of Cody Nebraska, Cindy (Wayne) Fox of Biggar Saskatchewan, Scott (Camille Ducharme) Schaffert of Peace River Alberta; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Clark was predeceased by his parents William and Elsie Schaffert, infant son David Duane Schaffert, and sister Betty Hadden. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015 from Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Hay Lakes with Rev. Don Bolstad officiating. Inurnemnt has taken place in the Our Saviour Lutheran Church Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Hay Lakes.
