Obituary of Kathleen "Kay" Wolbeck

Kathleen Elizabeth Wolbeck (nee Elmer) passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015 at 90 years of age. Kay was born in Castor, Alberta on February 20th, 1925 to Barbara and Peter Elmer. Kay was the oldest girl and second oldest of five children. During WWII Kay was a teacher at a local school north of Strome. She rode her horse from the Elmer farm and never lost her love of teaching and helping. Kay moved to her current home in Daysland in 1961. Here she raised her two children Larry and Brenda. Kay loved dancing and met Melvin at a Solo Dance in Camrose in 1973. Kay married Melvin Wolbeck October 16, 1976. Kay enjoyed flowers and had a multiple of plants both inside and outside her home that she spent many happy hours tending. Kay was also a Brownie instructor and a member of the local Royal Purple. Melvin and Kay also traveled to Hawaii, Australia, Germany, Italy and much of Europe during their life together. Kay leaves to mourn and miss her: her husband Melvin Wolbeck; her son Larry Brown; her daughter Brenda Brown; her grandchildren Kathy Butkovic and Laurie (George) McGhie; her brother Bill Elmer and other numerous loving relatives and friends. Kay was predeceased by her sister Ann and her brothers Nick and Frank. A Mass of the Resurrection was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 from Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland with Rev. Leon Kler officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Daysland Hospital foundation, or to the Daysland Cemetery Fund.
