Obituary of Vida Innes
Please share a memory of Vida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vida Constance Berke, born June 2, 1920 and passed away peacefully May 2, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
Vida grew up on the family farm north of Kelsey and was the second oldest of eleven children.
On August 27, 1943, Vida married Alexander Stephen Innes. After a short time they moved to the family farm ten miles south of Ohaton, where they lived for 30 years until they built a new house on the Albury school site. After Steve's passing in 1980, Vida moved to Camrose, first in a three bedroom apartment, so the grandchildren could come and stay and she would still have a room for making her many quilts.
Vida moved to Parkview Place where she made many new and lasting friendships. Every year we had the Innes Christmas in the common area of Parkview and Mom cooked the turkey and made her special homemade white beans. In 2009, after a mini-stroke , Mom moved to Louise Jensen, where she resided until her passing.
Vida was predeceased by per parents Herman and Myrtle Berke; husband Steve; infant daughter Irene (1945); infant granddaughter Shauna (1964); four brothers Lloyd, Howard, Bernard, and Victor; and four sisters Ellen, Lois, Hazel, and Bessie.
Cherishing her memory are her six children Dorothy (Gary) Meyer and their children Kim, Tammy-Rae, Sherry, and Brad; Stephen (Kaye) Innes and their children Christine and Brian; Gordon (Evie) Innes and their children Tracy, Maureen, and Mark; Verna Barkman and her sons Jason and Dallas; Elaine Twitchell (Brian Cutting) and her children Colin and Michelle; Darlene (Brian) Snider and their children Jesse and Hanna; 25 great-grandchildren; brother Randall Berke; and sister Jessie Hall.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015 from Camrose United Church with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Melville Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Melville Cemetery Fund, or to the charity of one's choice.
