Obituary of Deborah Banack
Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deb was the second youngest child of Mickey and Irene Banack. She passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the age of 57 years.
Deb grew up in Bawlf. She attended school at Michener Centre in Red Deer. She worked at AFSC for fourteen years, then enjoyed many years of working at Centra Cam. She lived in various group homes in Camrose and Sparling Manor, and was very happy in her last home at Bethany View Point since Aptil 1, 2014.
Deb loved the Oilers and over the years enjoyed many trips to Edmonton to cheer on her team. She enjoyed family gatherings and attended all of the wedding, birthdays, and graduations, and really enjoyed her coffee visits with her special friend Roger Orr.
Deb enjoyed bowling with the Camrose Special Olympics and the Legion. She also loved swimming and went to the pool once a week with the Centra Cam staff. Church was the highlight of her weekend and she was sure to mention who she saw at church during her daily phone calls to Uncle Joe and cousins Susan and Randy. She never missed a chance for a visit to Uncle Joe's farm. Hastings Lake Bible Camp was a summer highlight for many years with her Banack family, and she also enjoyed four Disneyland trips with her family. The last couple of years she also had a lot of fun at Bethel Bible Camp in Westlock with friends from Camrose. She enjoyed small children, little dogs, scratch tickets, and puzzle books.
Deborah is survived by her three sisters Margie Stone of Edson, MaryAnn (Mike) Tindill of Edson, and Dianne (Fred) Daley of Milo; sister-in-law Lorna of Ft. Nelson; and several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Deborah was predeceased by her parents Mickey and Irene; two brothers Gordon and Maxwell; and brother-in-law Len.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday May 14, 2015 at 10:30 am from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic church, with Father Larry Pederson as celebrant.
Interment followed in the St. Stanislaus cemetery, south of Round Hill, Alberta.
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Centra-Cam or to Special Olympics.
