Amanda Leigh Brooks of Camrose , passed away on Thursday June 25th 2015 at the age of 34 years. Amanda Leigh Brooks was born August 28,1980 in Wainwright, Alberta. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with her Granny whom she dearly loved and enjoyed being in her company more than anything. Granny taught her how to play cards and board games, activities she enjoyed throughout her life. Amanda loved music and occasionally Granny would play the piano with Amanda sitting on the piano bench beside her. Amanda was heartbroken when Granny past away February 1996. Amanda went to the Hughenden Public School until completion of Grade 9 then attended Sedgewich Senior High School. School was not easy for her and one of her greatest achievements was obtaining her high school diploma. Following her graduation in 2000, Amanda enrolled in a Life Skills course at Vermilion College. In 2001 Amanda moved to Camrose. Amanda was a "mother hen" and enjoyed babies and small children, she was in her element talking to them and holding them. She enjoyed visiting with elderly people, especially if they played cards or board games. Amanda loved animals especially small dogs. She enjoyed watching old sit-com shows, puzzle books, reading Nancy Drew mysteries, listening to country music and visiting with her friends. She really loved being a member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation, taking part in church activities and going to the Center. Amanda is survived by her parents David and Marion; her brothers Trevor and Brandon (Shannon); her maternal grandmother Eileen Smith; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. As well as numerous friends especially Pam and Martha. Amanda was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Chuck and Leona (Granny) Brooks and her maternal grandfather Richard Smith. As well childhood friend Kelly. A funeral service was held on Friday July 3, 2015 at 2:00pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, Camrose. Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are greatly accepted to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness (Camrose Chapter), or to the Epilepsy Society of Alberta
