Freda Alm of Camrose, formerly of Bittern Lake, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Freda was born to Edward and Emma (Summerfelt) Kallis on a farm near Hay Lakes, Alberta on September 30, 1924 into a family of five brothers Reinholt, Henry, Benny, Leo, Albert, and two sisters Lydia (Trempner) Alma (Walters); all of whom she is predeceased by. Freda married Russ Moberg in the early 50s having three sons, Lance, Larry (deceased September 2005), and Lester. During their marriage they lived in Edmonton, then moved to Bittern Lake where they ran the General Store and Post Office until Russ's death in 1972. In 1979, Freda married Ken Alm, also living in Bittern Lake. During their marriage, they enjoyed travelling, visiting friends, nieces, nephews. Family was very important to Freda. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, always very positive. She loved to party, attend reunions and weddings, never missing if at all possible. Ken passed away in 1990. Freda was a very hard working ambitious person who spent many years @ Smitty's Restaurant and The Alice Hotel (cooking and baking) in Camrose. Freda moved into View Point Seniors Residence September 2011, living there until her passing. Freda is survived by two sons Lance (Sharon), and Lester (Pat); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Marlene Kallis; and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Interment will take place in the Bittern Lake Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
