Obituary of George Snider
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Davis Snider of Camrose, formerly of New Norway, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife Corrine; son Todd Snider and his daughter Courtney Howe; daughter Tara Vanderwal and her son Dayce Newman (Jennifer Simmons) and their child Xander Newman; and brother Leroy (Alice) Snider.
George was born on August 8, 1941 in Camrose to parents Edward and Etta Snider who lived on a farm in the New Norway district. George lived his entire life on this land doing what he loved to do, farm the land and raise cattle.
George attended school in New Norway for grades 1-12 with particular interest in the sports of hockey and baseball. He then attended Camrose Lutheran College for a year, again playing on the hockey team.
The following year he attended the Vermilion School of Agriculture, and of course played hockey, but also played saxophone for the school orchestra. Following this, George went to Edmonton to U of A to further his study of agriculture, but after a year decided that it involved too much book work and not enough outdoor activity, and so returned to the farm to do what he loved to do, work the land and raise cattle.
In 1962 George married Corrine Forsberg and in 1963 their son Todd was born. Their daughter Tara joined the family in 1970 and made the family complete. In 2012 George retired from farming and moved to Camrose where he lived until his passing.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Camrose Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
