Doris, I am so sorry for your loss, I didn't get back to town until today and Shirley told me I missed the funeral. I will be talking to you in the near future.

My heart breaks, I don’t know how to say good-bye. I was almost five on my Aunt’s wedding day, and I was taken off guard when the minister said, “Do you James take Doris …”, and I said “his name is not James, it is Jim!” From that day forward our beloved Uncle Jim. He was my left-handed hero. At the age of six, he taught me to tie my shoes and helped me master spool knitting. From 1970 to 1976, our families resided in Calgary, and I remember the many Saturday night family get together times and the Sunday mornings at church. There was no one more exuberant playing Rook and no one brought excitement to a Christmas gift exchange like Uncle Jim. A charming man who gave you the feeling you were special every time you met. He was a man with great character and strength. It is not every son-in-law who would transport his mother-in-law’s coffin from Alberta to Manitoba for burial, but he did. When I moved to Camrose, Uncle Jim and Aunt Doris were just one reason that Rez Church felt as if I was coming home. A man of faith, I loved to hear him raise his voice in praise. Sadly, the day came when he could no longer attend church. Blessed be your memory Uncle Jim!

Dear Doris and family: I am so saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I have fond memories of our days at The Bay. My thoughts are with you all at this most difficult time.
