Obituary of Daryl Skaret

Please share a memory of Daryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daryl Philip Skaret of Armena passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the age of 56 years. Daryl Philip Skaret, third child to Marville and Dolores, was born November 24, 1958. He was the only boy with four sisters until brother Karl finally arrived, as much needed backup. And then there were six. He finished his first eight years of school in Armena, with recess being his favourite subject. He attended Hay Lakes School, graduated at Camrose Lutheran College and continued his education at Olds College. Daryl loved sports and was a daredevil. Not only did he ski, curl, golf, play hockey and baseball; he sky dived and launched his hang glider from behind a truck or off a cliff. Daryl joined his Dad in a mixed farming operation before he and Karl started raising cattle. He then worked at the Battle River Feeder Association where he enjoyed connecting with the farmers in the area. Daryl was a driving force in the family business, the Thorville Group, and was a skilled renovator and handyman. His skills were used to great effect in the business and in homes of family and friends. He appreciated his community and was involved with the Armena Athletic Association and Scandia Lutheran Church where he was the lead violinist of "The Skaret Strings" with his daughters, Bailey and Kate. He loved his family and friends, but being a dad was the role Daryl cherished. He gave his children his undivided attention, support and encouragement. He was so proud of them. Daryl was truly blessed to find his soul mate, Andrea. Her three daughters and soon to be son-in-law welcomed him into the family and he came to love them dearly. His horizons were ever expanding, and new experiences and travel became a passion. With his girls and Andrea, he travelled to destinations such as Peru, Argentina, India, Australia, Cuba, Germany, Panorama and many others. Daryl Philip Skaret was bigger than life. He was rough, loving, wise, open-minded, creative, generous, opinionated, fun and kind. He was a son, brother, cousin, uncle, dad, soul mate and friend. He is leaving behind a huge hole, but his love will be alive in us forever. Left to cherish his memory are his loving partner, Andrea Tollefson; daughters, Bailey and Kate; Andrea's daughters, Kayla (Dustin Rathwell), Lyndal, Missy; mother, Dolores Skaret; siblings, Mardell (Verlyn) Olson, Merlyn (Dean) Rix, Kirsti Skaret, Susan Skaret (Randy Kohan), Karl Skaret; Andrea's brothers, Larry (Beryl) Oldenburg, Delburne Oldenburg, Wade Oldenburg; and his many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 from Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment has taken place in the Scandia Lutheran Church Cemetery. If friends and family so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Armena Athletic Association Box 4 Armena , Alberta T0B 0G0, Scandia Lutheran Church Box 27 Armena, Alberta T0B 0G0, or to the charity of one's choice.
