Please share a memory of Madeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Madeline Cecile was born to Richard and Hilda Sikstrom at Edberg, Alberta on December 7th, 1936. Madeline passed away peacefully on October 19, 2015 at the age of 78.
She spent her early years on the family farm near Edberg, Alberta and later moved with her family into Edberg where she attended school. Madeline married Vic Luckwell on February 17th, 1954. They worked and farmed in the New Norway, Alberta area for many years. In 1963 they moved onto the family farm, where they raised their family.
In addition to helping on the farm and raising five children, Madeline also worked at a number of jobs in and around the area as well as owning and operating the New Way Café in New Norway for a few years.
Vic and Madeline sold the farm to Dale and Ardith in 1996 but continued to live on the home quarter, helping out on the farm, for many years. In 2010, after 47 years on the farm, they moved to Camrose.
Madeline was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed time with her family and was especially fond of spending summers at the cabin on Buffalo Lake. Madeline was active in the community and she was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Left to cherish her memory are her immediate family; husband Vic, son David (Marie), son Alan (Terrie), daughter Linda (Doug), son Dale (Ardith), son Larry ( Brenda), 17 grand-children, 24 great-grandchildren, sisters Ellen, Ruth, Winona, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Madeline was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Liz Carter-Morgan officiating. Interment has taken place in the New Norway Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to STARS, Canadian Lung Association, or to Crohns and Colitis.
