Esther Margaret Ellingson went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on October 19th, 2015 at the age of 82 years. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon, daughter Nola, son Clayton (Sherrie) and four grandsons John-dale, Matthew, Tyler and Colton Ellingson, twin sister Ethel Brager of Camrose and sisters Eleanor (Marvin) Jacobson of Tofield and Doris Severson of Camrose, brothers Arnold (Lois) Olson of BC and Milton (Shirley) Olson of MB, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law Ronald Brager and James Severson. Esther was born in the Alpine District of Manitoba on October 2nd, 1933, the elder of twin daughters to John (1902-1955) and Margaret (1911-1999) Olson. Esther attended a two room school house to grade eight. She went to Winnipeg with her twin sister in 1952 to work as a maid at the Royal Alex Hotel and in 1954 they moved to Calgary and worked at the Palliser Hotel. In 1955 Esther attended Covenant Bible Institute in Prince Albert, SK. Upon returning to Calgary in 1956, she worked in the meat department at Canada Safeway stores. She met Gordon and they married on July 8th, 1961. Clayton was born in 1962 and Nola in 1964. As a young family, in the summer, they made their home in numerous locations where road construction led, returning to Calgary to spend the winter months. In 1978 Gordon and Esther purchased their home of 31 years in Calgary. Esther was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Calgary serving her Lord with the gift of hospitality. She loved baking and sewing and caring for her family. Gordon and Esther have resided in Camrose the past six years near their children and grandsons. A Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 from Camrose First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Pietz officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Gideons International, or to Resurrection Lutheran Brethren Church Building Fund.
