It is with great sadness that the Pollock family announces that (Lauretta) Joanne Pollock of Edmonton has passed away at the age of 76 years on November 2, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joanne was born in Ryley, Alberta on June 26, 1939. She was the eldest child of Joseph and Fannie Lyslo and was raised on a farm just south of town along with her two brothers Blaine and Robert Lyslo. Joanne started her schooling at Solberg School and went on to high school in Ryley. Around this time she met and married the love of her life George Pollock on November 11, 1955.
They set up their home in Edmonton where they welcomed their five children. Deborah, James, Cheryl, Roseanne and Richard. They spent 60 years together making many happy memories while doing all of the activities they loved such as camping, fishing, hunting, enjoying time in Mesa, and traveling with family and friends.
Joanne was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a wonderful friend to all who were blessed enough to know her. Her greatest pride and joy was her family and she always took the time to spend every moment she could with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joanne is survived by her husband George; son Jim (Sherle) Pollock of Edmonton; daughter Roseanne (Brant) Regush of Saskatoon; son Richard (Holly) Pollock of Edmonton; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and brothers Blaine (Carol) Lyslo of Killam and Robert (Jo-Ellen) Lyslo of Kingman.
She was predeceased by her daughters Deborah and Cheryl; grandson James; and mother and father Fannie and Joseph Lyslo.
She will be forever loved and sadly missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 from the Ryley Lutheran Church with Rev. Dan Berg officiating. Interment has taken place in the Ryley Cemetery.
We would like to thank Dr. Humphries for his excellent care. We would also like to express a huge thank you to the staff at Capital Care Norwood for their kindness and support through this difficult time, Cassie, Myrna, Lila and staff.
