Obituary of Lester Keohane
Please share a memory of Lester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A light has gone out without so much as a flicker and all we have left is the precious memory of how brightly it burned and the warmth it gave us. Lester passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the early afternoon of Sunday, January 31st, 2016. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Lester was born to Dan and May Keohane on May 12, 1941. He was raised on the family farm near Round Hill. For many years he owned Round Hill Transport and drove truck throughout Alberta. He loved camping, rodeos, antique auctions and going for walks. Many of Lester's favourite hobbies included woodworking, welding and looking after birdhouses around the County.
Lester lived in the Camrose area for most of his life. In 2004 he moved into Bethany, in 2005 to Viewpoint, and in 2015 to Bethany Meadows in Bashaw. The staff absolutely adored him and many have shed tears over his passing. Lester valued his friends and derived great pleasure from these friendships. He truly enjoyed the many hours he spent with his friends, more often than not at the Windsor Hotel. A cold beer and friendly banter was a day well spent.
Lester has four children, Bob (Kerrie) Keohane, Jennifer (Zane) Vowles, Michael Keohane, Dan (Becky) Keohane; nine grandchildren, Tanya (Clayton) Bahrey, Bobbi-Jean (Shawn) Liebl, Bret (Natalie) Keohane, Alex (Jennifer) Vowles, Amber Vowles, Brandon Keohane, Warren Keohane, Kory (Nikayla) Keohane, Erin Keohane; eight great-grandchildren, Carson Bahrey, Kolby, Kayden, Sydni and Shea-Lynn Liebl, and Macayla, Mason and Madison Vowles. Lester was predeceased by his parents Daniel and May Keohane, his brother Gary Keohane, his granddaughter Sarah Keohane, and his first love and the mother of his children, Jeanne Severson.
Left to mourn are his vast family, his brothers Robert Keohane, Leonard (Ardele) Keohane, and Brian Keohane, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 from the Round Hill Hall with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Bosmans Memorial Garden Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Stollery Children's Hospital.
