I am a Registered Psychiatric Nurse from Ponoka. I just learned of the passing of Brent. He has worked with me as a UNA rep/LRO over the past 5 years. His knowledge and skill ful way with words has helped me through several situations at work. Most recently, on Feb. 1, 2016, he assisted me in obtaining a satisfactory return to work after 3 years medical leave. He spoke of his upcoming vacation and was looking forward to family time. I knew he had health struggles of his own, but he never gave less than his all for the UNA members he represented. My sincere sympathy on the passing of your family member. He was one of a kind and his work with our local in Ponoka will be missed.

We are pained to learn of the passing of the most gentlemanly, kind Parrothead Pirate ever, our dear friend, Brent. We will always cherish our laughs and love of life with Brent and Jay. Even more pained that we cannot be at the service to offer our condolences to Jay and the kids, as we out of province. Do hope that family and friends are close and gathered, and we intend to bring our own hugs in person on our return. The bounty of the true treasure of this Pirate shall be with us forever!

Brent has mentored and assisted our local 42 with numerous concerns and questions....meetings both at restaurants or our homes were always enjoyable and full of information. Brent loved to laugh and to taste and eat good food. His love for laughter music and all around appreciation for family and vacations made us like him even more. When he faced his illness and treatments...he did so with strength and head on....it did not "get him". I believe he taught me more than anyone I have encountered at UNA....and may he be forever at peace..resting in the fact he did a great job and always treated others with dignity and respect ....teaching along the way. With a great big smile!!!! Miss ya Brent!!!! God be with his family in this tragic loss. I pray for comfort and peace to surround his family and send heartfelt condolences to all who are missing Brent.

My deepest sympathy to Brent's sisters and Evelyn on his passing. I have had had a few messages with Julie and find myself unable due to several commitments of attending the service. To Jay and family who I have never met, you have been fortunate to have spent time with my childhood friend Brent!! He was a great man, musician and friend to all. I had the fortune of playing many hours of music with Brent starting at 14 years of age. We toured accross 4 Provinces in the mid 70's as a band. We grew apart but still are friends. Brent came to my office in Brandon about 5 years ago and we had a great visit after not being in contact for many years. It was like we had not seen each other for only a week. Thanks Marla for arranging this! I may be in Manitoba on this Saturday but my heart and thoughts will be in Camrose, along with those that shall celebrate Brent's life.! Take care old friend we will play that last set together again at a later date!! Tom & Kim
