Obituary of Edith Kinnee

Edith Aurora Kinnee was born to Ole and Tella Hansen on the family farm north of Monitor, Alberta on August 2, 1916. She was one of a family of thirteen children. As a child and teenager, Edith worked hard on the farm assisting her dad in the fields tending to crops. Edith met and fell in love with Peter Kinnee, who she married in 1936 at Provost, Alberta. They settled on a farm near Lake Demay in 1937 with their oldest son, Herbert. Here they had two more children: Dennis and Beverly. In 1952, Peter and Edith moved to the Comfort Reinhart farm southwest of Bawlf. This is where they remained to raise their children and farm. Edith was found tending to the children and home, gardens, and the poultry. In 1965, Peter and Edith moved into Camrose. Once in town, Edith started working at Francoeur Cleaners until she retired. She lived in her own home until 98 years of age. She spent her last year in Willow Meadows, until her passing on February 24, 2016 at the age of 99. Edith was predeceased by her parents, husband and one son. She was also predeceased by two brothers and eight sisters. Left to cherish her memory are: Dennis (Joy) Kinnee, Beverly (Ervine) Kading; daughter-in-law Shirley, her two sisters Bernice Barber and Lillian (Ron) Ference; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; friend Lawrence Zack; and numerous nieces and nephews, and relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from Messiah Lutheran Church with Bev Swanson officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to the charity of one's choice.
