Oscar was born July 6, 1930 in Vega, Alberta; the youngest child of Julius and Rose Boman. In 1950 he married Dorothy Maygard from Wetaskiwin, Alberta. They had three children; daughter Susan, and sons Terry and Ross. He lived in Gwynne, Valleyview, and Edmonton before settling in Camrose. In 1960, Oscar opened Boman's Radiator Shop which remains in operation today. Oscar enjoyed the outdoors, camping with family and friends. Especially at the McNary campsite. He had a love of sports, playing cards and dancing! His home proudly displayed trophies from an array of sports; mainly curling, slowpitch and horseshoes. Oscar passed away February 29th, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital. He leaves to mourn his children Susan (Neil Piller), Terry (Joanne Wilton) and Ross (Michelle Mazurenko); grandchildren Lindsay (Paul) Squires, Nancy (Shawn) Fortier, Dylan Daoust, Adam Boman and Noah Boman; great-grandchildren Margot, Ted, and Henry Squires; and sister-in-law Frances Boman. Oscar was predeceased by his wife Dot of 50 years, infant daughter Valerie, and his five siblings Lloyd, August, Emma, Ruby and Mary. A funeral service was held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will take place in the Crooked Lake Cemetery at a later date. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Crooked Lake Cemetery Fund, c/o RR 2, Gwynne, Alberta, T0C 1L0 or to the charity of one's choice.
