Obituary of Jona Kellert

Jona Kellert of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the age of 87 years. Jona became known as Dad, Joe, Grandpa, and Papa Joe. Jona was born on the family farm immediately south of Heimdahl Church near Rolly View. He met and married the love of his life, Eunice, on November 14th, 1951. The union was blessed with seven children. He loved farming and most of all milking cows. One special highlight of Jona's life was being able to build his own dairy on the original Kellert homestead. Sadly, after only three years he was forced to sell and continued to struggle with back pain for the last forty years. Jona Kellert is survived by all of his seven children: Wilfred (Elaine) of Calgary, Norman (Deb) of Edmonton, Judy (Blake) Norman of Edberg, Bernice Westfall of Edmonton, Doreen (Ray) Black of Camrose, Larry (Lori) of Leduc, and Garnett of Camrose. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jona was predeceased by his wife Eunice in 1988, his parents August and Olga, one brother and one sister. A funeral service was held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 1 pm from Bethel Lutheran Church in Camrose with Rev. Deborah Ann Taylor officiating. Viewing was held from 12 pm - 1 pm. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery.
