John Dennis Thompson passed away on March 10, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Dennis was born on October 21, 1938, in Camrose, Alberta, the third child of Edwin and Violet Thompson. He grew up on the farm near Camrose until his father died in a tractor accident when Dennis was sixteen. The family moved into Camrose where Dennis spent his entire life. Dennis met his wife, Mickey, on a blind date and a year later they were married on November 21, 1958. They were blessed with three sons, Jody, Scott and Troy. Dennis was a very compassionate person and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his family and he was fortunate to have them all living in Camrose. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mickey; son Jody (Lauren) and their children, Janae and Jalen; son Troy (Sheila) and their children Grace, Blake and Chase; and sisters, Darlene of Spruce Grove, AB, and Joan (Ron) of Sylvan Lake, AB. He was predeceased by his son Scott; brother Lloyd; brother-in-law Rudy Haesloop; and sister-in-law Trudy Gardner. Dennis leaves behind many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved him. A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Camrose Open Door, or to the Camrose and District Hospice Society.
