Annabel Clara Omoth of Camrose passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Annabel was born on April 16, 1922, the oldest child of Walter and Helen Scheidegger of Ohaton. She lived on their farm south of Ohaton until age fifteen when she went to live in Camrose to go to high school. After high school, she went to Edmonton Normal School for one year and became a teacher. She taught at Lake Demay, Heatherbrae and Kelsey until Clint came home from the war and she married him on November 25, 1945. Annabel and Clint lived on a farm north of Ohaton and raised three children there. Over the years, she was the Girl Guide leader, 4-H Club leader, and Sunday School Superintendent. She later went back to teach at Burgess School in Camrose and continued Special Olympics bowling even after her retirement from school. She was involved in numerous clubs and was a great volunteer for many things. Annabel was named "Citizen of the Year" in Camrose one year. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Durand, Connie Maitland (Allan Gooding); son Calvin (Kathy) Omoth; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marie (Pete) Daintith and Doris Skaret. She was predeceased by her husband, Clint; brothers, Mark and Roy; son-in-law Gene Durand; and brother-in-law Herb Skaret . A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2016 from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Anne Telford officiating. Interment has taken place in the Skafse Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Skafse Cemetery, World Vision, or to CAFCL.
