Obituary of Gerald Blaeser

Gerald Joseph Blaeser of Metiskow, Alberta, formerly of Camrose, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the age of 74 years. Gerald was born to Walter & Eleanor Blaeser on June 9, 1941.He spent his early years on the farm before moving to Camrose to attend school. He married Shirley on March 3, 1962. Gerald made his living as a truck driver and lived in various small communities, eventually retiring to Metiskow, Alberta. He passed away on May 4, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson's. Gerald is survived by his wife Shirley; children, Julie (Rick) Stratychuk of Hayter, AB, Sheila (Jason) Pope of Sherwood Park, Rick (Alana) Blaeser of Metiskow, Wally Blaeser of Camrose, Sarah (Clint) Thompson of Edmonton, Elaine Blaeser of Metiskow; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother Larry (Shirley) Blaeser of Sherwood Park. He was predeceased by his son Michael, sister Coreen Bendfeld, brother Daniel Blaeser, and his parents Walter and Eleanor. A funeral service was held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1:30 pm from the Metiskow Community Hall with Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Inurnment has taken place at the Metiskow Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Parkinson Alberta or to the Daysland Hospital Foundation.
