Obituary of Patrick "Pat" Durand

Patrick Charles Durand of New Norway passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Pat was born to Charlie and Rosie Durand on August 8, 1940. He was raised on the farm along with nine siblings. One of his proudest moments was being able to buy land and take over the family farm. He met Maxine Fitzgerald and they were married in July 1963. Pat worked full-time as an electrician all across the province in addition to farming. Pat enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, coaching fastball and watching hockey. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Dean (Shelly) of Camrose, Brent (Gail) of Drumheller; two daughters, Michelle (Todd) of Airdrie, Lynne (Stacey) of New Sarepta; six grandchildren; Steven, Corey, Ashley, Kevin, Erin and Jamie; two brothers and five sisters; Thomas (Shirley) Durand of Mill Bay, BC, Frank (Darlene) Durand of Sherwood Park, Mary (Frank) Evans of Kelowna, BC, Jeanne Morton of Maple Ridge, BC, Ann McFeely of Wetaskiwin, Madeleine Freeman of Olds, Alberta and Lorraine Christensen of Red Deer; in-laws, Mike and Patsy Torpe, Walter Byers, Mark and Linda Kinnee, Larry and Phyllis Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by his wife Maxine; parents Charlie and Rosie; and two brothers, Fred and James. A funeral service was held on Saturday May, 21, 2016 at 11:00 am from the City Lights Church, Camrose with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to STARS or to the charity of one's choice.
