Obituary of Alexander "Alex" Lyle

Alex was one of four children born to Jack and Hazel Lyle. He was born on February 22, 1929 in Stettler, Alberta. He passed away on May 18, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Alex spent his youth in the Liberal/Stettler area and in Edberg. In Edberg is where he met Kay Dumont, who he married on August 22, 1951. They lived for a short time in Vancouver, Camrose and Bawlf. Since the early 1960's, home for Alex was on a farm near Ohaton. Alex had a variety of jobs over his lifetime, including various trucking jobs, teaching at the Burgess School, and farming. Alex is probably best known for driving school bus, which he did for over forty years. Alex enjoyed curling, golfing, camping, working in his shop, playing cards, lawn darts and shuffleboard. Family and friends were very important to him. Alex was always there to lend a helping hand or to offer support in a time of need. Alex is survived by his daughter Wendy Davidson (Wendell) of Camrose and son Rick Lyle (Sheilaugh) of Camrose; four grandchildren, Ryan Davidson(Vicki Knockleby) of Kelowna, Kimberley (Romer) Jamandron of Kingman, David Lyle (Taryn Irwin) of Bittern Lake, and Stacie (Luis) Arellano of Hay Lakes; twelve great-grandchildren Ashton, Aiden, Dominique, Anna-Marie, Cassie, Dante, Brooklyn, Marcus, Eberley, Kylie, Danielle and Brytton; and two sisters Doreen Fay of Calgary and Anada (Alan) Holtz of Leduc. Alex was predeceased by his wife Kay (2007), daughter in-law Shelley Lyle (2004), brother Garnet Lyle (1988) and his parents Jack and Hazel. A funeral service was held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1:00 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Hospital Unit 2 Palliative Care, designated for comfort items.
