Willliam James "Jim" Thiessen of Camrose, Alberta passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the age of 71 years. Jim was born on November 20, 1944 in Didsbury, Alberta. He grew up with his two brothers and three sisters in Calgary, and then Bluffton. Jim worked as a carpet layer for many years, and later worked at numerous businesses. He was a foster parent and served as the Chairperson of the Foster Parent Association. Jim was very involved in his community. He loved family gatherings and his friends were very important to him. He also enjoyed his horses, Mouse and Flash. Jim is survived by his loving wife Irene; step-children, Kerry (Lisa) Yushchyshyn of Lloydminster and their children Zayne and Jamie, Korey (Stacey) Yushchyshyn of Edmonton and their children Reese and Nathan; children, Jeanette (Jerry) Bergersen of Edmonton, Terry (Stephanie) Thiessen of Camrose, Trina (Jamie) Rae of Chilliwack, BC; 6 grandchildren; brother Frank (Marjorie) Thiessen; sisters, Betty (Wilburt) Kelly, Patricia (Brian) Moebes; brother-in-law Norris Rangen; special uncle Jacob "Jake" Thiessen; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Don Thiessen; sister Margaret Rangen; and parents George and Anne Thiessen. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel in Camrose with Rev. Dr. Alan Richards officiating. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
