Obituary of Yvonne Pointkoski

Yvonne Elizabeth Szott was born to Edward and Christine on July 8, 1954 in Daysland, Alberta. She passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital on July 23, 2016 at the age of 62 years.
Yvonne spent her schooling at Bawlf, Alberta, and basketball was her favourite sport, along with figure skating.
Yvonne married Garry Allen Pointkoski from Camrose on May 27, 1972 at the Daysland Catholic Church. They were married for 44 years.
Yvonne worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in Camrose for 27 years. Garry and Yvonne then moved to Calgary. Yvonne continued to work for Safeway for 3 years and at the Hudson's Bay Company in Market Mall for 2 years. Garry retired and they both moved to Medicine Hat. Yvonne was employed at the Red Hat Produce Plant. They moved back to Camrose in 2011 and Yvonne worked part-time at Lou's Fashions and Bellissima Fashions. She retired in December of 2015.
Yvonne loved cooking, fashion coordination and animals, and had a passion for gardening. She had a talent for creating floral arrangements and was the green thumb in the family.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Garry; son Jason; mother Christine Szott; mother-in-law Emma Pointkoski; five sisters, Sheila (Jim) Peter, Rita (Pat )Keogh, Audrey (Brent) Hrdlicka, Leanne (Paul) Kofoed, Donna (Harvey) Hunchak; brother Lloyd Szott; brothers-in-law Kenny (Deb) Pointkoski, Garry Olson; sister-in-law Joan Burrnett; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her father Edward Szott, father-in-law Walter Pointkoski, and sister-in-law Marilyn Olson.
She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
Prayer service was held on Friday July 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday July 30, 2016 at 11:00 am from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Father Joseph Jacobsen as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Camrose Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Stollery Children's Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
