Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Harvey Campbell was born on January 11, 1924 in the home of his parents, Vic and Miriam Campbell in the Ankerton district. He passed away peacefully at Lynnwood long-term care in Edmonton on September 27, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Tom spent his childhood on the family farm. He attended East Lynne School as a youngster, leaving school at fourteen and a half to do the field work his father physically could no longer do. Tom and Doris were married on July 25, 1953 and started a farm north of his parents. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Doris (Anderson), daughter Laura Morin and her son Andre Ladouceur (Chelsee), and sons, Ross (Deborah) and their children Ryan, Jillian, Joel and Lauren, and Lorne (Judy), and their daughter Erin (Bryan) and son Bryce (Melanie) and seven great-grandchildren (Maycen, Kyden, Blaire, Alex, Rylee, Owen and Sterling). He is survived by siblings Victoria, Carol, David, Stewart, Rhondda and Lorna. Tom was predeceased by his parents, siblings Ralph, Alice, Bill, Bob, Miriam and Brian and son-in-law Wayne Morin. After retiring from the farm in 1981, Tom and Doris moved into Rosalind and Tom was employed by the Village. His duties included maintenance of village property, utilities and equipment. He was an avid community member, supporting and participating in the United Church, the Elks, the Drop-In and community events. Tom and Doris travelled extensively, going to Europe three times (once crossing the Atlantic by sea) and seeing most of the United States. Their true passion was exploring Canada, seeing the Queen Charlotte Islands in the west to the northern tip of Newfoundland in the east. They did not forget the rest of Canada, dipping their toes in the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk, seeing the polar bears at Churchill, and visiting many other Canadian destinations. A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 from the Rosalind Community Hall with Rev. Deanna Cox officiating. Interment has taken place in the Green View Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
