Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Karen Ann George of Camrose County passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the age of 54 years.
Karen Ann George was born in Victoria BC, May 17th 1962. Daughter to Bonnie Hession and step-father Ed Hession, the oldest of seven children. Karen attended school in Victoria where she was always at the top of her class. She was part of many athletic programs including track and field, volleyball, baseball, and bowling.
When Karen turned 19 she moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Right away she went out and got a job at popcorn vendor. This was only for a short time until she found a new job with an insurance company. Then along came her dream job which would become her career at the U of A Hospital. With determination and hard work she continued to work for Alberta Health Services for over 30 years at various positions. Her last position allowed her to work from home in her pajamas. She was thrilled!
Karen was shy as a child, but that changed as she became an adult. She was very outgoing with a positive attitude and wore her heart on her sleeve. On a night out in 1982 she met the love of her life, Gerald George, although she didn't know it at the time. Seven years later, on April 22, 1989 Karen and Gerald decided to tie the knot. Shortly after Karen accomplished another dream when she had her baby boy, Bradley. Now her family would be complete. She had her husband Gerald, son Bradley, and step-son Michael. In 2001, the family moved to their forever home on an acreage near Miquleon Lake.
She had a knack for any kind of arts and crafts. From painting ceramics, needlepoint, crocheting, sewing, and most importantly, quilting. Quilting was her true passion. She had a soft spot in her heart for any kind of animal. She acquired three dogs who would never leave her side.
Karen is survived by husband Gerald; son Bradley (Sadie Griffin); step-son Michael (Sarah); parents Edward and Bonnie Hession; brothers Clint (Janelle) Young, Vince Young, and Rob (Kathy) Young; and sisters Debbie (Tony) Malishewshi, and Sandra (Jamie) Whitney; and brother in-law Archie McPhail of Camrose.
She was predeceased by one sister Sherry McPhail.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the SPCA.
