Obituary of Derek Schenk

Derek Arie Marvin Schenk of Forestburg passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the age of 17 years. Derek - Son, Brother, Uncle, Hero, Champion. Friend is the word. Derek liked food and friends. Friends and family were very important to him. If you were down, he would pick you up. His smile would light the room and your heart. Never has one inspired so many. He has left this world a better place and will forever have a place in our hearts. Left to cherish his memory are his father and mother Art and Sherry; birth mother Trish Melin; sisters Amanda (Mike) Rahmoun of Sedgewick, Jessica Schenk of Camrose, Clair Melin, and Jazmin Melin; grandmother Arlene Simmons of Camrose; grandparents Arie and Anja Schenk of Salmon Arm B.C., Tenessa (Jarrod) Harvey of Red Deer, Trevor (Katie) Vance of Camrose, and Chelsey (Justin) Johannesson of Forestburg. Derek was predeceased by his grandfather Marvin Simmons, and grandparents Larry and Carol Persson. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from the Forestburg Community Hall with Rev. Bill Harder officiating.
