Obituary of Anne Marie Knudtson
Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Marie Knudtson Anne Marie Knudtson (91) of Camrose passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on December 8, 2016. Anne Marie was born on May 16, 1925, at the family home north of Donalda, Alberta, to Henry and Mina Johnson. Along with her family, she was active in the life of Bethany Lutheran Church. She attended Norbo School and then the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose. Anne Marie married Hans Knudtson, also of Donalda, on June 18, 1947. Five children were born to this marriage, four sons and one daughter. Anne Marie spent all of her adult life on the family farm with her husband, Hans, and after he died, moved to Hillside Village in Camrose (2003). In the fall of 2015, Anne Marie moved to the Louise Jensen Centre in Camrose. She had a very good year here, as she enjoyed the connections made with staff and other residents, and with the many friends and family who stopped by for visits. Anne Marie enjoyed a variety of artistic pursuits throughout her adult life, including pottery, oil painting, stitching blankets, crocheting, and Norwegian folk art. She rosemaled dozens of plates, chests, and household objects which she gave as gifts to family members and used to decorate her home. Anne Marie's life was devoted to her family and she stayed in regular, often daily, contact with her children by telephone. In recent years, her son Allen gave her an iPad and she really took to this because it allowed her to enjoy photographs of her family, Google for information, watch old TV programs, and exercise her mind with jigsaw puzzles and Word brain. In this past year her iPad allowed her to see many photographs of her four new great-grandchildren, even though she was never able to see all of them in person. Anne's Christian faith was always of central importance in her life, and she enjoyed being able to attend the weekly Church services and devotional times at the Louise Jensen Centre after having been a shut-in for many years. Bethany Lutheran Church, Meeting Creek Evangelical Free Church, and Resurrection Lutheran Church were the center of her social and spiritual community for many years as she attended weekly services, Bible studies and ladies groups. She also played the organ and piano (both at home and at church) and passed on her love of music to her children. Anne Marie was predeceased by her son David (1957); her husband, Hans; by two brothers, Clifford (Caroline) and Norman; by four sisters, Dorothy (Selmer), Doris (Mike), Inez (Art), and Alice. She leaves to mourn four children, Allen of Calgary, Arthur (Kathy) of Donalda, Paul (Elaine) of Cochrane, Lois Sorenson (Alvin) of Viking; eight grandchildren, Kristy (Rob), Timothy (Sarah), Michael, Nathan (Megan), Philip (Elise), Andrew (Lynne), Jill (Paul), Edmund; ten great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Alvin Rude (Alice); together with numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 from Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. David Eriksson and Rev. Dean Rostad officiating. Interment has taken place in the Bethany Cemetery, Donalda.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to CLBI, Resurrection Lutheran Church, or to World Mission Prayer League.
