Obituary of Kenneth "Ken" Wold
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth was born January 6th, 1938 in Donalda, Alberta to Walter and Agnes Wold. He was the eldest of three boys, followed by David and Ralph.
Kenneth was baptized on April 16th, 1938 and was confirmed at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Camrose. His heart's desire was for his friends and family to know Jesus. He loved the Lord and displayed remarkable faith throughout his life.
Kenneth attended school in Norbo, Horicon, Sifton, and Camrose Lutheran College. Kenneth married the love of his life, Sylvia Ephe Lorraine Schiele, on April 22nd, 1959 at the Ferry Point Lutheran Church. Together they started their farming adventure in the Meeting Creek area.
Kenneth worked tirelessly throughout his life on the farm; however he believed that he never worked a day in his life because he did what he was so passionate about. Kenneth and Sylvia raised one son, Barry, and three daughters, Karen, Wendy, & Leann, loving each one unconditionally. He has 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, which were his pride and joy. He was happiest surrounded by his family, and had a special place in his heart for his beloved cows and two dogs, Ruger and Oreo. Kenneth had a real love for life and touched the lives of many up to his passing. This is evident through his consistent willingness to lend a hand to others in need, and his ability to make lively conversation with anyone he met.
Kenneth lived his life with a purpose to serve others. He volunteered at his local churches, Ferry Point and then Bethany Lutheran, for many years. During that time he served many essential roles within the church body. He was also involved with Battle River Gas, REA, and served on the executive board of C.P. Rail.
Even though Kenneth maintained many positions and responsibilities within the community, he always enjoyed the simple things that life on the farm provided. He enjoyed learning through reading, television, and his grandchildren. Before Google and spell check, there was Dad. He loved to travel, whether it was to another country or another auction. He couldn't resist a good deal! Kenneth had a carefree spirit, and frequently found himself in compromising situations without worrying about the consequences. His answer to these situations was his hearty, contagious laugh that remains with us today.
Kenneth moved to Faith House in Camrose on July 17th, 2013, after the passing of Sylvia. Later, he was transferred to Lilac Cottage in Louise Jensen to receive more specialized care. The residents and special care providers of Lilac Cottage became an extended family not only to Ken, but to his immediate family as well.
Kenneth passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side on December 16th, 2016 at the age of 78. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Karen (Bob) Mingo, Wendy (Brian) Reinke, Leann (Calvin) Lehman, daughter-in-law Brenda Wold, 10 grandchildren: Ashley (Dale) Martin, Jefferey Mingo ,Justin Reinke, Shaconna Reinke, Larissa Lehman, Riley Lehman, Bradley (Courtney) Wold, Darcy (Emily) Wold, Jamie (Katrina) Wold and Stefanie Wold, 6 great grandchildren; Chase Martin, Ryder Martin , Mackenzie Wold, Sierra Wold, Owen Wold and Isabel Wold, brothers David & Ralph (Rita) Wold, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kenneth was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia, and son, Barry. Kenneth will be greatly missed, but he is rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
A funeral service was held on Thursday December 29, 2016 at 11:00 am from Messiah Lutheran Church, with Pastors Harold Rust and David Eriksson officiating. Interment has taken place in the Ferry Point Cemetery(North of Donalda).
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to C.L.B.I., Ferry Point Cemetery Fund or Bethany Donalda Church.
