Obituary of John Haesloop
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Frederick Haesloop passed away peacefully January 11, 2017 at the Daysland Hospital.
John was born November 20, 1931 at home in the Ohaton area. In 1956, John married Shirley Thompson of Camrose. In 1961 they moved to a farm northeast of Daysland. John and Shirley raised three children. John focused his attention to farming and raising cattle along with Shirley and their children. In 1997 they moved off the farm to Daysland, but continued to farm up until the last two years. Bringing in the cattle for branding and vaccinating was always a family highlight for John and Shirley. Harvest was also a great time that everyone really enjoyed. He liked to visit with both young and old and loved to tell stories from the good old days. John and Shirley celebrated 60 years of marriage last July.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; children Brenda (Jim), Dan (Theresa), Ron (Marilyn); nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother Ed; and sister-in-law Darlene Haesloop. He was predeceased by his father John Sr., his mother Bertha and his brother Rudy.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 11:00 am from Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church in Daysland, Alberta, with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Daysland Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
