Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold Dale Sittler of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the age of 72 years. Harold was born June 6, 1944 in Edmonton, Alberta to Elmer and Alice Sitler. They lived and farmed in the Kingman area, raising livestock and working the lands. Harold was the youngest of three siblings and truly enjoyed entertaining numerous relatives and friends. Harold started his schooling in Bardo until grade 6 then moving onto Kingman until grade 12. He then decided to pursue a degree in agriculture at Vermillion College. While at Vermillion, his interest in music and entertaining audiences with his voice and guitar enticed him to start up a band. After Vermillion, Harold met and married Bettyann Carr and moved on to the Sitler Family farm in 1965. Although he enjoyed farming, his true passion was interacting with people which led him to a sales career of over 30 years. Harold and Bettyann moved from the farm to Camrose in 1981. Their first business together was opening a camera store in the Duggan Mall. Harold also dabbled in real estate sales while operating the store. He had many business ventures throughout his life and can be remembered best for his entrepreneurial ambitions. He was never afraid of trying something new or ahead of its time. In his later years Harold loved nothing more than spoiling and spending time with his four grandchildren. Left to cherish his memories are sons Rob (Bretta) of Nanaimo, B.C., Scott (Karla) of Camrose; four grandchildren Haydn, Abigail, Blake and Reno; and brother Glen (Edith) of Sherwood Park. He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Alice Sitler; and sister Gail Look. A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from The Burgar Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Morris officiating. If friends or family so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
