Obituary of Dianne "Heather" Wilson
Please share a memory of Dianne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Heather Wilson was born on February 5, 1950 in Galahad, Alberta to Hector and Helen McPherson. She passed away at home on April 16, 2017 after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Being the youngest, with her siblings already grown and out on their own, Heather grew up as though she were an only child, on a small farm outside of Alliance, Alberta. In 1964, her parents sold the farm and moved into Alliance, where Heather completed her grade school. In 1967, she moved to Calgary and furthered her education at the Henderson School of Commerce. She acquired a job in Camrose in 1968 as a Legal Secretary. For the majority of her career, Heather worked for Knaut Johnson & Sawle where she made some lifelong friends.
Heather married the 'love of her life", Don, on October 9, 1971 and had two children, Blair & Angela. Heather was always involved in her children's school and extracurricular activities. In October 2016, Don and Heather celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary - and still were very much in love! Heather was well known in the family for her amazing cooking and baking skills. She was often asked for copies of her recipes. Trying to recreate those recipes is often difficult because Heather never followed recipes, never measured ingredients and certainly didn't know how to write down what she actually did.
For many years, Heather had a regular Friday morning ladies coffee regiment with her friends, that on occasion over the years, she has drug her grandchildren to so all the ladies could take turns at squeezing their cheeks and spoiling them. She also enjoyed regular weekend breakfasts at the Norsemen with the Chartrands. After retirement, she was able to add in Thursday morning coffee get togethers at Tim Hortons, this time allowing husbands to be present.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would often come to cheer them on at their various sports and extracurricular activities. Although she wasn't the outdoorsy type, she sacrificed the comfort of her own home to go camping and boating because she knew her husband, children and grandchildren loved it. Heather will always be remembered for her mischievous sense of humour, her playfulness, her giving an opinion whether you wanted it or not, her "see-food", and her kindness and generosity to others.
Heather leaves behind to celebrate her life; her loving husband Don; son Blair (Melody) Wilson of Strathmore and their children Calen & Liam; daughter Angie (Rob) Palomaki of Camrose and their children Tanner, Autumn & Kael; sister Muriel Lawrance of B.C.; as well as numerous family and friends.
Heather was predeceased by her parents, Hector & Helen: brother Jim Hansen: sisters Ethel Platz, Mae Wardstrom & Muriel Lacey.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 from CityLights Church (4920 48 St, Camrose) with Rev. Scott Koreman officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Cross Cancer Institute, or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
