Obituary of Norbert Yurkoski

Norbert Willard Yurkoski of Camrose passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017, at the age of 87 years. Norbert was compassionate with all things he did in his life from orderly for thirty-five plus years at Rosehaven to Bert's Janitorial Services to his love for his garden. Norbert could plant a few seeds and a whole yard would be blooming in no time. Vegetables seemed bigger and tastier from the care he showed them. His life was very full with the times he spent with his children and then his grandchildren. His great granddaughter put a sparkle in his eye during his time at Rosehaven, we know he sure would have spoiled her at any chance. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Leona; children Janice (Rick) Graumann of Camrose, and Greg (Bianca) of Whitby, Ontario; Leona's children Lenard (Lori) Sawatzky, Dawn (Myles) Fenske, and Jim (Tracy) Sawatzky; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Andrew (Audrey) York of Edmonton; and sister Elnora Clark of Florida. Norbert was predeceased by his parents Felum and Louise Yurkoski; first wife Alena; son Dale; sister Helen Heidt; and brother Stanley. A Prayer Vigil was held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Service with Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Pederson as celebrant. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Alzheimer Society of Alberta, Huntington Society of Canada Camrose Chapter, or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
