Obituary of Amanda Rosekrans

Amanda Patenio Rosekrans, age 71, passed away April 28, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, Alberta after a long struggle with breast cancer. She was born in Samar, Philippines on August 6, 1945. Amanda came to Canada in 1981 to work as a nanny in Calgary. In March 1983, she married Ray Rosekrans. They lived happily on their farm in Edberg, Alberta, where they raised pigs and chickens and tended a large garden. After Ray passed away in 1997 Amanda continued to tend to the farm until she sold it in 2012 and moved to a condo in Camrose. Amanda will be fondly remembered for nourishing people around her with love, faith, singing, delicious cooking and of course, her famous "pan de sal" (Filipino rolls) also called, Amanda's bun. She was also an active member in the Filipino community in Camrose, who will miss her presence dearly. Amanda was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Ray; her parents Premitivo and Catalina Patenio; sister Nonelda Cramie; and brothers Hormie Patenio and Dodong Patenio. She is survived by her seven siblings - Pedro Patenio, Minda Dajoya, Emilio Delvo, Primitivo Patenio, Editho Patenio, Deolinda Legaspi and Gemilda Patenio; sister-in-law Nenita; nieces and nephews Ronaldo, Ariel, Jovy, Nelia, Orlando, Jemelyn, Ramjen, Milinda, Danny, Gina, Domingo, Grace, Randy, Rhia, Marylin, Edison, Nenilda, Demencio, and Angelica. We also remember her close friends: Pat and Irvin Frank, Selma Sands, Dave and Susan La Torre, Mary Golden, Rosaline Cogasi, and Elizabeth Brynda for going above and beyond with the help and caring they have shown Amanda over the years. And caregivers: Estela Pernites and Lucy Colino for the exceptional care and comfort they gave to Amanda during her last days. On behalf of her family, thank you! A Funeral Service was held a 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from Burgar Memorial Chapel in Camrose, Alberta. Interment has taken place at Ferry Point Cemetery. If family and friends so desire memorial contributions will be gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
