Please share a memory of Caroline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On May 9, 2017, Caroline Margaret Skog (nee Galenza) passed away peacefully at the Louise Jensen Care Centre in Camrose at the age of 97 years. Caroline was born April 8, 1920 at Halley, Alberta to Martin and Anastasia Galenza. She grew up on the Galenza homestead and attended Ellswick School. She moved to Camrose at age eighteen and worked at the hospital and the Alice Hotel. In 1942 she married Alfred Skog and raised a son Rodney and daughter Wendy. When the children were older she began work as a seamstress for Wright's Alterations. She also joined the Women of the Moose - Camrose Chapter and became a lifetime member of this club. In 1959 Caroline's mother moved to Camrose and lived two doors away. This allowed Caroline to assist her mother with household and garden duties for many years. In 1983 her husband passed away. She continued living in her own house for thirty-three years until suffering a stroke in December 2016. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred; parents; half sisters Annie, Frances and Victoria; sisters Alice Karpovich and Louise Pelz; brothers Anton, John and Edward Galenza. She leaves to mourn her son Rodney (Pegi); daughter Wendy; grandchildren Tyler (Sasha) Skog, Karla Skog and David Halverson; great-granddaughter Isla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from Burgar Memorial Chapel in Camrose, Alberta with Rev. Dave Cawley officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
