Gillian Bell of Calgary, formerly of Camrose, passed away on September 8, 2009, after a brief but courageous battle with ALS.
Gillian is survived and deeply missed by her daughters Jane (Rob) Remington of Calgary, Vicky (Greg)Barclay of Camrose and beloved granddaughter Sarah. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Jennifer and Judith, niece Kate (Paul), grand-nieces Rachel and Zoe, brother-in-law Ian (Jackie) and grand-nephews Carl and Adam. Gillian also leaves behind her precious dog MacAllister.
Gillian was predeceased by her husband David, her mother and father, and mother and father-in-law.
Gillian's family wishes to thank her many caregivers and friends for their support over the past year, especially Barry and Fay Hodson, Alison Pritchard, the ALS Society of Alberta, homecare workers of Camrose and VON Calgary, and the Palliative Care nurses and doctors in Calgary. As her final act of caring, Gillian donated her body to the Division of Anatomy, University of Alberta.
A memorial celebration of Gillian's life was held on Saturday, September 19, at 1:30 pm at Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter (St. Mary's Hospital Pastoral Care) officiating.
Donations may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
