Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth Julia Skiba of Camrose, Alberta passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017 at the age of 80 years. She was surrounded by her family. Elizabeth Julia Shaward was born May 22, 1937 in Tyndall, Manitoba. Betty was raised on the family farm near Tyndall. She received her education at Happy Thought School in East Selkirk. Betty loved the farm and the animals. During the local harvest one year Betty met Thomas Carl Skiba and fell in love. On June 25, 1955 Betty married Tom in East Selkirk, Manitoba. Tom worked for CN Rail with Betty by his side. She worked as a cook for the crew. This brought them to Alberta. After a short time in Drayton Valley they moved to Camrose where they lived, laughed, and loved for the rest of Betty's life. During her life in Camrose, Betty worked hard to raise a loving family and still worked along Tom's side at his business.
Betty was predeceased by her son Phillip Jonathan Skiba. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Tom; her children Vern (Lorie), Linda (Craig), Sid (Christy), Patti (Chad), James (Lisa); and grandchildren Marshal, Meagan, Mitchell, Joshua, Ashlynn, and Kayley.
A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017 from CityLights Church in Camrose, Alberta with Rev. Bill Harder officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions will be gratefully accepted to the Louise Jensen Care Center or to the charity of one's choice.
