Obituary of Harvey Bergstrom

Harvey Allan Bergstrom of Bashaw, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the age of 72 years. Harvey was born May 21, 1945 in Camrose, Ab. to Evert and Edna Bergstrom, younger brother to Eddie Bergstrom. Harvey was raised on the farm near Meeting Creek where he attended school. On July 21, 1967 Harvey married the love of his life, Betty Young. Together they raised their son Philip and daughter Kristine in the Meeting Creek area. Harvey has had a variety of different jobs throughout the years. Everything from operating a grader, being a derrick man on the rigs, equipment operator for building roads, to owning his back-hoe service and snowplowing business. He was also a crop adjuster for many years, but through all these jobs, his love of farming remained strong. Harvey enjoyed visiting, having coffee and if he could get a rise out of someone his day would be that much better. If anyone ever needed a helping hand, he would be the first to offer and give it. Harvey would do his best to find fun and sometimes more fun in any situation. The love of his grandchildren was second to none and a prouder grandpa you could not find. Near the end of his life, he wanted us to know how lucky he was to have had such good kids and grandkids. Harvey loved and enjoyed travelling, snowmobiling and quadding. One of his other special interests was helping care for the Meeting Creek Cemetery, which he took great pride in. Left to cherish his memory forever are his wife of almost 50 years Betty; son Philip (Tara) Bergstrom; daughter Kristine (Russel) Sutley; grandchildren Cody (Rhianna) Sutley, Brett Sutley, Brayden Sutley, Axel Bergstrom, and Lexa Bergstrom; brother Eddie (Shirley) Bergstrom; brothers-in-law Clarence (Brenda) Young, Melvin (Jean) Young, Leon (Carol) Young, Norman (Lisa) Young; sister-in-law Vi Steinhoff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was predeceased by his parents Evert and Edna Bergstrom; and sister-in-law Linda Bergstrom. A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from the Bashaw Community Centre. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Meeting Creek Cemetery or to the charity of one's choice.
