Harley Cecil Brager of Red Deer, formerly of Camrose, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the age of 98 years. Harley Cecil Brager was born May 30th 1919, to Raymond and Clara Brager, in the Camrose District. In his early years, he attended Hampton School with his two sisters and brother, Muriel, Lauretta and Ronald. They attended Parkland Church. He enjoyed winter sports such as skiing and hockey. During the Second World War, he served in the army and air force, in which he was an aero-engine mechanic. Following his military service, he worked for his uncle Cliff Brager in the Brager Transport business and then chose his lifetime occupation as a farmer. On March 19th, 1960 Harley was united in marriage to Helen MacNab of Orillia Ontario. They welcomed their only daughter, Valerie, into the world on April 13, 1962. Harley enjoyed the technology of his day, taking home movies, making tape recordings and taking lots pictures. He loved to spend time with family and friends. He made friends wherever he went. In 1977, upon retirement from farming, the family moved to Red Deer. During his retirement years, he enjoyed camping in Alberta and British Columbia with the family. These were prime opportunities to continue to pursue photography and make new friends. Harley spent the last two years of his life at Bethany CollegeSide long term care centre where he was happy and content. This is where he passed away after a very brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen and all of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie. A Graveside Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 from the Parkland Cemetery (east of Camrose) with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Parkland Cemetery Fund.
