Obituary of Marvin Foss

Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvin George Foss of Round Hill, Alberta passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Marvin was born on November 19, 1950 in Camrose, Alberta. He was raised in Surrey, BC and was the fifth of nine children born to George and Grace Foss. Marvin married the love of his life, Noreen Lamont on July 28, 1973 and they had four children. In 1976, Marvin, Noreen and family moved to Round Hill where they raised their family. In 1976, Marvin started working for AGT/Telus until his retirement in 2002. Marvin couldn't stay retired long and he contracted out to Bell to do fiber optics. Never one to sit idle, Marvin and Noreen decided it was time they opened their own business, and on June 27, 2006 Noreen's Place opened in Round Hill. Noreen's Place was a place everyone would come to catch up, have a coffee and see faces you may not otherwise see. Everyone was always welcome. So many memories were made over the next ten years. In 2015 even after being diagnosed with cancer, Marvin shocked the family be deciding to get a night job at Walmart, it started as a part-time job but it very quickly turned to full time. He worked there until he was unable to work any longer. Marvin enjoyed many things in his life, but one of his greatest joys was coaching the Round Hill Raiders men's fast ball team. So many great memories were made with that team and Marvin talked about it right until the end. His great loves were his wife, kids, and grandkids, he loved them fiercely and nothing was more important to him. In 1988, Marvin and Noreen lost their only son, Derek, after a long battle with cancer. Marvin is survived by his loving wife Noreen Foss; children Tanya (Greg) Tkaczyk, Tracy (K.C.) Komosky, and Mindy (Nathan) Felgate; his most loved grandchildren Jake, Kacie, Luke, Timothy, Andrew, Owen, Joshua, Eli, and Isaac; sisters Georgina (Joe) Orcheski, and Eileen Staal; and brothers Arnold (Ria), Dennis, Ken, and Harvey (Doreen). He was predeceased by his son Derek; parents George and Grace Foss; father and mother-in-law Ronald and Julia Lamont; sisters Kathy Campbell and Joyce Sutherland; sisters-in-law Cindy Foss and Barbara Foss; and brothers-in-law Dale Lamont, Mike Staal, and Doug Sutherland. Marvin will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. A Public Graveside service was held on Friday August 11, 2017 at 11:30 am from the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery, (Highway 834, West on Township Road 482 1 mile, south side of road) near Round Hill, Alberta with Rev.
