Obituary of Janette Ekdahl
Please share a memory of Janette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Janette Ekdahl, age 57, who passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 in the arms of her beloved daughter at the University of Alberta Hospital. From her birth in Tofield, on December 11, 1959 to her death she cared deeply and unconditionally for her family and friends closest to her. Janette was born to Ellen and Gustav Ekdahl as their second child and first daughter, followed by another daughter and two sets of twin brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cari Dawn McIlduff of Woodford, Australia; mother Ellen Ekdahl; and brothers Ron (Viktoriia Strii) of Sherwood Park, Gordon of Drumheller, Glen (Tina) of Leduc, Kevin (Marla) of Leduc, and Keith (Trena Anderson) of Camrose; and numerous nieces and nephews; a great-niece and three great-nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Janette was predeceased by her sister Barbara, and father Gustav. Growing up Janette enjoyed playing softball and due to her outgoing personality, had many friends. After graduating from Camrose Composite High School Janette followed her deep passion to travel the world and flew with her best friend to Australia where she had the time of her life and came home with a souvenir she couldn't shake. Following in her father's footsteps she worked at the Camrose Steel Mill for many years. Janette had an unconventional way of reaching people in a deep and positive way. Those Janette touched are invited to join her family in the celebration of her life at The Kingman Hall on August 24th at 12pm. This will be a time to reminisce, share memories or songs together in memory of a loving, vibrant soul, grieve, support each other and to, in her words, "Just have a frickin' party." Her ashes will be spread across many oceans according to her wishes. There will not be a burial following the celebration of her life. "Mum you will be deeply missed, my Sundays will never be the same without hearing your voice. You were a strong woman, thank you for fighting until I arrived home so I could be with you in your final hours, just another example of your incredible strength" - love Cari.
"Those who we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day."
A Funeral Service was held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017 from the Kingman Hall.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to STARS, the Camrose Women's Shelter, or to the Camrose Open Door.
