Mary Owcher, loved and treasured mom, grandma, great-grandma, great great-grandma, and baba, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital at the young age of 94 years. Mary was born in Holden on June 27, 1923. Mary married Peter Owcher on April 13, 1944. They farmed north of Holden until 1967 and then decided to try big city life in Edmonton. Mary was employed at Alberta College and Toronto Dominion Cafeteria, as a cooks assistant. Mary loved to cook and was very good at it. She admired anyone that had a healthy appetite. You would often hear her say "eat, eat and drink if you can." Mary was stricken at a young age with rheumatoid arthritis. She never let the disease control her. She tended to her home, garden, flowers, and most of all, her family. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters Irene (Ray) Talaga of Mundare, and Lorraine Oslanski (Brian Gallaugher) of Camrose; five special grandchildren Blair (Cindy) Talaga , Grant (Tammy) Talaga , Glenn (Tammy) Oslanski, Deone Oslanski, Cheryl Oslanski; eight precious great-grandchildren Landon (Dannielle), Kayla, Ryan, Olivia, Jake, Kate, Emery, and Kelton; one adorable great great-granddaughter Payton; one loving sister Olga Osadchuk of Vegreville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband Peter (2001), her parents Nick and Anne Puk, great-grandson Nicolas Macleod (2011); seven brothers John (Tillie), William (Nadia), Peter (Anne), Paul (Sophie), Alex (Florence), Harry and Metro; two sisters Clara (Nick) Bilyk and Minnie (James) Tymchak; brother-in-law John Osadchuk. Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday September 2, 2017 at 10:30 am from Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church Camrose,with Father Slavko Dumec officiating.Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Camrose Ukrainian Church or to a charity of one's choice..
