Obituary of Wilfred Volk

Wilfred passed away peacefully on September 16, 2017 at the age of 83 years. Wilfred was born on October 20, 1933 to Michael and Margaret Volk in Macklin, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Alberta in 1947 to a farm five miles west of Heisler. In 1958 he married Caroline Wolbeck and they had three children which they raised on the family farm.
Left to cherish his memory are wife Caroline; son Robert (Val), daughter-in-law Jackie Volk; daughter Noreen (Kelly) Zimmer; ten grandchildren Brad, Ryan (Kristyn Child), Jordan (Rayann Purcha), Brooklyn Volk, Darci (Joe) Ramsdale, Chelsie (Jeff) Hurd, Taylor and Lindsay Volk, Kristie (Dustin) Nahajowich, and Colin (Dailyn) Zimmer; four great-grandchildren Trent and Liam Volk, Charlie Purcha, and Emerance Nahajowich; brothers Ed (Josephine), twin brother Ralph (Janice), Donald (Evelyn), Arnold (Geraldine); sisters Sister Margaret Volk, and Carol (Jerry) Ryan; sister-in-law Eileen Wolbeck; brother-in-law Roger Weller; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilfred was predeceased by his son Doug; parents; sister Helen and brother-in-law Pat Rothe; brothers-in-law Melvin and Lloyd Wolbeck; and sisters-in-law Doreen Weller and Kay Wolbeck.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017 from St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, Heisler with Rev. Carlos Nunez as celebrant. Inurnment has taken place in the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Daysland and District Aging in Place Foundation, or to the Daysland Hospital Foundation.
